What are the symbols represented on the logo of the Scouts de Nouvelle Caledonie

There are 5 different symbols: the cagou, the nautilus, the ridge arrow, the fleur-de-lis and the archipelago.

the cagou : It’s an endemic bird, emblem of New Caledonia. From the plant world to the animal world, from the terrestrial to the marine, New Caledonia is a true sanctuary.  The importance and originality of its fauna and flora place it third in the world.  The rate of endemism of its plants, estimated at 76%, is exceptional.

the nautilus : It is a fossil marine animal, which has existed for 400 millions years.  He lives in deep waters.  It is an endangered animal that is protected.

the « flèche faîtière » : It’s a carved rooftop spear or spire or finial that adorns Kanak houses, particularly the Great Houses of the Kanak Chiefs, in New Caledonia.

the « fleur-de-lys » : It’s the symbol of belonging to scouting.  The fleur-de-lis represented the North on the Compass Rose of old maps.

the neocaledonian archipelago :

New Caledonia is made up of several islands: the mainland Grande Terre and the Loyalty Islands (Maré, Lifou, Ouvéa) and many islands (Île des Pins, Belep, Île Ouen).

It also represents the earth, the strongest symbol.  Without his land, man is nothing.  The link to the land is for people in New Caledonia very important.
